Overview

As the Director of DevOps, you will lead a team of talented DevOps engineers to develop, deploy, and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems, driving the growth and scalability of our engineering operations. Your key responsibilities will include automating and streamlining developer operations and processes, building and maintaining deployment, monitoring, and operations tools, and ensuring the integrity of our environments through Terraform pipelines and robust environment management practices.

 

In addition to leading the DevOps team, you will oversee security, test automation, and production support. Reporting directly to the CTO,this role offers a significant growth opportunity for someone who is now ready to own the entire technical operations function.

The Opportunity

  • Lead and manage multiple team teams including DevOps, Security, Production Support and Test Automation.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration. 
  • Manage infrastructure costs by forecasting capacity needs and using reservations and other cost optimization strategies to maximze cost efficiency.
  • Design and implement strategies for deployment, scaling, and automation of our infrastructure and applications within MS Azure Cloud. 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using Terraform and other automation tools to streamline software development and deployment processes. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify, design, and implement DevOps practices that meet business objectives and operational requirements. 
  • Ensure security best practices are integrated into our infrastructure and DevOps workflows. 
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures. 
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in our DevOps pipelines and cloud environments. 
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and cloud trends, especially within the Azure ecosystem, to enhance our capabilities and improve efficiency. 

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of proven experience as a DevOps Team Leader, managing multiple teams in a modern SaaS environment with a mature CI/CD process, or in a similar leadership role in a cloud-centric environment.
  • Experience in hiring, training, mentoring, and managing a geographically distributed team.
  • 7+ years of experience with a strong background in cloud services (any cloud environment) and infrastructure management in a fast-paced SaaS environment. 
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Containerization knowledge and proficiency with expertise in various build systems like npm, maven, and poetry. 
  • Kubernetes understanding is a must. 
  • Ability to implement/support observability and incident management systems.
  • Deep understanding of networking, knowledge of DNS, load balancers, VPNs, VPCs, access control, firewalls, etc to manage infrastructure. 
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc. 
  • Expert understanding of modern SaaS observability toolsand best practices.
  • Excellent cross functional problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with leadership communication, building roadmaps and mentoring senior IC staff. 
  • Strong understanding of security best practices.
  • Performance tuning and optimization.
  • Disaster recovery and backup strategies.

Perks and Benefits

Compensation: The pay range for this position is expected to be between $214,000-$248,000/year OTE; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized, non-discriminatory factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may include other incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, and equity.
